A Holiday Prayer

Two thousand and three right around the corner “a merman I shall be” said King Jimi

Waiting for Sadam, Bin Laden and old Saint Nick as we live by the whims of madmen

Transit strike, lay offs, homeless in the streets, September eleventh, mass shootings

Germ and chemical warfare, senseless deaths and mutilations by the dozens

This planet's gone mad, fireballs raining down from the sky and then some

Until there is nothing left in sight…anywhere

Not even a single human being or even a tiny brown chimney mouse

A piece please….. Peace Simply Pray For Peace

Zevon on Letterman so he thinks that he’s ready to boogie

George Harrison left to meet John on the corner of Avenue B and Penny Lane

Michael Jackson needs a new nose, some new clothing and just a little understanding

Ozzy sucks down his percodans on national TV and takes his daily methadone

Like a good little bat eating boy who has opened up his life to America

Everybody complains about closure on the Soprano’s “nobody got whacked”

Whack this motherfucker!

A piece please….. Peace Simply Pray For Peace

Old hippies now yuppies driving their BMW’s and refinancing their homes

To take advantage of the “lowest interest rates in 30 years”, they say

When the bottom falls out it won’t matter if the rate is five or 20 percent

All just paper, monopoly money in this diversion called life where it is death that prevails

As the rich get fatter and the poor get poorer that same old mantra

Is sung in the streets of Smalltown USA to the tune of “Silent Night, Holy Night”

As the executioner's blade rises to chop off the troubled heads before they speak

A piece please….. Peace Simply Pray For Peace

And alone or together thy will be done if the permission is given by the one?

This ain’t no rehearsal anymore, just the real thing at last

And the real thing sometimes can be way too naked and real for most of us

So we hide in our store bought comforts and false sense of security

To turn our backs on the many as we say “that could never be me, no, not me”

We got our fancy homes to live in and our expensive foreign cars to drive

Think of all those less fortunate than us who once sat where you do… please

A piece please….. Peace Simply Pray For Peace

A little peace please….. Peace Simply Pray For Peace
